Highlights / General details
For nature lovers and those in search of adventure, just 2 hours east of Mexico City you can have a unique experience over four thousand feet in the Iztaccihuatl, the third highest mountain in the country. Also popularly known as "The Sleeping Woman" or "white woman", with more than 5000 meters in height, the ascent of this dormant volcano offers beautiful scenery and breathtaking views of Popocatepetl, also called ""the smoking mountain"", and eternal companion south of Iztaccihuatl.
Our day starts early. Once all the adventurers are all together, we will go non-stop to the State of Mexico. Halfway through, near the foot of the volcano, we'll make a stop to have a light breakfast (on your own expense) before starting the ascent of the mountain.
Once satisfied our appetite the journey continues to "La Joya" in the famous "Paso de Cortés", at 3700 meters high, and named like this for being the place where the Spanish conquistadores crossed on their way to the city Mexico-Tenochtitlan in 1519. It is here where the ascent up the mountain begins.
There are different routes to climb, for beginners, experienced and mountain professional climbers, as a group, you will take an intermediate route, easily enjoyed by both beginners and those who are more experienced. The stunning landscapes change as you climb.
Depending on the condition of the members of the group, you can climb up to 4200-4800 meters high. Next, after the descent, you'll enjoy a more complete meal (on your own expense), and return to Mexico City.
Highlights: Leave the bustle of Mexico City behind and hike Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl volcanoes. Breathe in the fresh mountain air and look out over the Valley of Mexico. Go as high up as the skill level of your group allows and enjoy panoramic views of the valley and villages below.
