Join us on a full day tour to the beautiful and important historical sites of Cholula and Puebla, located just 2 hours away from Mexico City, and enrich your experience with a heritage interpreter guide who will accompany you.
This tour will cross the mountains east of the city by a highway that offers breathtaking views and beautiful landscapes of the volcanoes Iztaccihuatl and Popocatepetl, which can also be seen from Cholula, where we will visit and climb the largest pyramidal base in the world.
The pyramid of Cholula which has a height of 64 meters and 400 meters on each side of its base, being thus twice as large as that of Cheops in Egypt. From here, we will admire the City of Cholula with its hundreds of churches, one of which was built right there on top of the Great Pyramid.
Then we'll take you to see the impressive Church of St. Mary of Tonazintla, an impressive mix of indigenous and Baroque building, noicetable for its interior decorated in gold, as well as for the wealth of its elements.
From there we'll take you to the city of Puebla, located no more than 15 minutes drive from Cholula. Puebla is popularly known as the "City of Angels". There you can enjoy a tasty lunch (at your own expense). The gastronomic variety is rich in Puebla, so you can choose from a simple and traditional “ Semita” or the exquisite and laborious “mole poblano”.
Then it will be time to take a walking tour through the beautiful historical center of this city, where you can see buildings from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century, amongst which you'll also visit the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, and the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzman. You'll also have time to visit the handicraft market where you can find beautiful works done in the traditional talavera or delicious sweets like sweet potatoes prepared on different flavors.
